Rising Stars

Victor Osimhen set the standard — now a new wave of Nigerian and African strikers is chasing his crown. Here are the forwards every Super Eagles fan should be watching.

Victor Boniface

Powerful, quick and clinical, Boniface burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga and quickly became one of Europe’s most talked-about strikers — a natural heir to the Osimhen role for Nigeria.

Gift Orban, Terem Moffi & Akor Adams

Orban made headlines with record-breaking bursts of goals, Moffi has proved himself in France’s Ligue 1, and Akor Adams keeps forcing his way into the conversation. Nigeria’s striker pool is deep.

The African picture

Beyond Nigeria, Ivory Coast’s Sebastien Haller wrote a fairytale AFCON-winning comeback, proving Africa’s centre-forwards are among the best on earth.
