Super Eagles Legends: Nigeria’s Golden Generation

Super Eagles Legends

Before Osimhen and Lookman, a golden generation announced Nigeria to the world. The 1990s Super Eagles were fearless, flamboyant and feared — here are the icons who built the legend.

Rashidi Yekini

The man who scored Nigeria’s first-ever World Cup goal at USA 1994 — and gave us THAT unforgettable celebration, gripping the net and screaming with joy. A true No.9 and a national treasure.

Emmanuel Amunike & Daniel Amokachi

Amunike’s goals helped Nigeria win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and he later joined Barcelona; “The Bull” Amokachi powered Everton and became an FA Cup hero. Both were central to Nigeria’s Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold — one of African football’s greatest triumphs.

Finidi George & friends

Finidi won the Champions League with Ajax and shone in Spain, while Sunday Oliseh and Nwankwo Kanu added steel and silk. Together they reached the 1994 World Cup knockouts at the first attempt and made the world sit up.

Relive the greats and the next generation on our live scores hub, and settle the GOAT-of-Naija debate in the Monsterscores forum.
