Hey football fanatics!

So, we just wrapped up another rollercoaster of a Premier League season. And I have to say, it was more dramatic than a Nollywood movie! Between the shocking upsets, the rivalries that had us all glued to our screens, and the never-ending VAR controversies, we had quite the ride. But now, the big question on everyone’s mind is: “When does the new Premier League season start?”

Before we dive into that, let’s take a quick stroll down memory lane and relive some of the most hilarious and contentious moments from last season.

1. VAR: Very Annoying Referee

Can we all agree that VAR was like that one neighbor who always spoils the fun? Remember that game where Manchester United got a penalty for… breathing too hard? Or when Liverpool’s winning goal was ruled out because someone’s pinky toe was offside? E choke!

2. The Great London Meltdown

Tottenham fans, abeg, how market? Spurs had us all believing they were title contenders for about five minutes before the annual meltdown began. Arsenal fans weren’t left out either, with the Gunners’ season resembling a poorly mixed jollof rice – some good bits, but mostly underwhelming. Chelsea fans, just de chop dey go, una dey enjoy.

3. Manchester Madness

Manchester City was cruising as usual, but let’s not forget the time they got slapped by Leicester City at the Etihad. Na who do them? And Manchester United fans, how did it feel watching Bruno Fernandes carry the team like it was his personal backpack? Man carried the Red Devils on his shoulders!

4. The Anfield ‘Curse’

Liverpool’s home ground, Anfield, went from fortress to ‘free for all’ as teams that hadn’t won there in decades decided it was time to change their fortunes. Even Burnley came through like, “Hold my beer!” Klopp’s face was a meme goldmine all season long.

5. The Great Escape Artists

West Brom and Fulham had us all biting our nails, but alas, their relegation battle efforts fell short. Shout out to Big Sam for giving us those legendary press conferences though. That man is a vibe!

6. The Rivalries

Nothing got our blood pumping like the rivalries. From the North London derby where Arsenal and Tottenham tried to outdo each other in mediocrity, to the Manchester derbies that had more hype than action, and of course, Liverpool vs. Manchester United which always promised fireworks but delivered sparklers.

Now, with all that drama behind us, it’s time to look ahead. The new Premier League season kicks off on August 13th, and we can’t wait to see what chaos awaits. Will Spurs finally get their act together? Will Arsenal surprise us all and finish in the top four? Will VAR ever work properly? Stay tuned, because it’s going to be a wild ride!
