Super Eagles

When Nigeria needed a hero between the posts, Stanley Nwabali answered the call. The goalkeeper went from relative unknown to national icon in the space of one unforgettable tournament.

The AFCON hero

At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nwabali was the rock on which Nigeria’s run to the final was built — capped by his heroics in a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over South Africa in the semi-final. His calm, commanding displays made him the Super Eagles’ undisputed No.1.

Where does Nwabali play?

Nwabali has built his club career in South Africa with Chippa United in the Betway Premiership, where he has worn the captain’s armband — and his performances for Nigeria have attracted interest from bigger clubs looking for a proven shot-stopper.

Nigeria’s last line

For a nation that has produced goalkeeping greats, Nwabali has made the jersey his own with big-game temperament and match-winning saves.
